About

“Look, I made a hat — where there never was a hat.”

— Stephen Sondheim, Sunday in the Park with George

I write musicals, movies, and podcasts. Mostly musicals. I also build AI systems that talk to people — which, it turns out, is not so different from writing characters.

Most recently, I wrote and directed ACADEMY for Amazon Music and Wondery, which won the Ambie Award for Best Scriptwriting. Before that, I co-created WHO KILLED AVRIL LAVIGNE?, a time-traveling sci-fi comedy podcast named Best Podcast of the Year by The Guardian, CBC, Podchaser, and Audible.

On the AI side, I was an early employee at Hippocratic AI, where I wrote the system prompt and designed the character, voice, and personality of a healthcare agent responsible for interacting with millions of patients. The company scaled from $200M to $1.6B+ valuation during my tenure. I currently work at Luma AI, designing prompting and language systems for video generation, working with film studios and agencies to bridge the gap between traditional filmmaking language and AI-native tools.

My musicals have been developed and produced at the Prospect Theatre Company, (le) poisson rouge, the Boston Conservatory, Dixon Place, Discovering Broadway, and bars, basements, and rooftops across NYC. My indie cult hit POP PUNK HIGH toured Germany with the Theater für Niedersachsen and has been covered by Billboard, The FADER, Variety, and Playbill. My screenplay JAMES THOMAS THINKS THE EARTH IS FLAT won the Sloan Grand Jury Screenwriting Prize at Tribeca and was supported by Film Independent and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media.
