In the year 2021 -- in the post-Warped Tour Dark Ages -- all seems hopeless. The spirit of pop punk has been forgotten. Skin-tight jeans and swoopy straight bangs are mocked; flip phones are archaic remnants; and anxiety is a lot cooler than aggression. Former stars are shells of their old selves -- corporatized and creatively corrupt. It is a dark time. And this descent away from art and culture began with one singular event: the abduction and disappearance of the pop punk princess, Ms. Avril Lavigne, at Warped Tour 2005.
